The whole booking process is done online. Below you will find the answers to our most frequently asked questions. If there’s anything missing, don’t hesitate to drop us a line!
Making a Booking
If you’re hiring Wheatsheaf, you’ll need to check availability, complete a quotation request form, and ensure you read the Terms and Conditions of Hire.
Bookings Step by Step
- Your first step should be to check availability. Our calendar is published on our website.
- When you have found a date that suits you, the booking process begins with the completion of a Booking Quotation Form. This is accessible on our website. We respond to these twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when the office is staffed.
- You will be sent a Quotation in response to your enquiry and your booking will be added provisionally to our online calendar. The quotation is valid for 7 days from date of issue. If we don’t hear from you during these 7 days, we assume you no longer need the space, and will cancel your provisional booking. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY IN RESPONSE TO A QUOTATION.
- Read the TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF HIRE.
- From your Quotation, you can ACCEPT, REJECT or COMMENT. If you accept the quotation, we will raise an invoice. When the invoice is raised, the deposit must be paid immediately. Outstanding balances must be paid at least 30 days before your event is to be held. Invoices contain full instructions on paying us. We only accept BACs payments.

We have four fantastic spaces for hire, together or separately, making this the perfect venue for celebrations of all kinds, concerts, rehearsals, meetings and classes.

Your Questions Answered
Availability
Our spaces are available for hire between 0830 and 2300, Monday-Sunday. The building must be vacated by 2300.
We are normally closed between Christmas and early January.
Deposits
We charge a deposit based on the number of spaces hired and the duration. All deposits are returnable, with deductions for damages, 7 days after the time of hire.
Setting Up and Cleaning
We don’t provide cleaners, but we can recommend reliable contractors. Contact us for more details. If you don’t use a cleaning company, you’d better get a dustpan and brush out!
Cancellations
Cancellations must be done in writing. you must inform us in writing. If you give more than 14 days notice, Wheatsheaf Hall will refund you everything that you have paid. If you give less than 14 days notice, Wheatsheaf Hall will repay the hire charge but keep the deposit.
Kitchen
The kitchen must be hired in advance. Do your own catering or bring in a catering company. Hire includes use of range with double oven, fridge freezer, microwave and two sinks. Hirer must supply own cooking equipment and utensils.
Decorations
You are welcome to decorate the hall for your event. Please ensure you include decorating time in your booking request. See our gallery for some inspiration!

Main Hall – 10 5 X 3 ft & 2 3ft square tables
Main Hall – 4 Trestle tables (stored in the office – please ask!)
Small Hall – 2 5 x 3 ft & 2 small 3ft square tables
If you move tables around, please return them to where you found them!
Helium
It’s a big NO. No helium balloons or canisters permitted in the building – sorry!
Chairs
We provide 165 chairs in the main hall for sit-down events. Please ensure you stack the chairs safely after your event. If you move chairs from room to room, please return them to where you found them. Remember we’re a volunteer-run organisation and don’t have 100s of staff.
Parking
There is very little parking in the neighbourhood. You are liable to be fined and/or towed if you park in the lane.
WiFi
We provide free WiFi and access to a smart TV for meetings and presentations. You will need to bring your own laptop! We also provide a flip chart stand for the more traditionally minded.
Parties
Unfortunately we can’t accept party bookings for people aged between 12 and 21 under any circumstances.
