“Our vision for our community is for it to be open, vibrant and welcoming and for its members to be successful and support each other”
“To run a not for profit organisation that will restore the Hall to her former glory as a warm, welcoming, buzzing, beautiful place at the heart of our community”
The above vision and mission for the Wheatsheaf Hall was agreed in May 2013 as part of a consultation process with Lorraine Hart of Community Land Use. Lorraine was engaged to support the committee to develop a structure and business plan which will enable the hall to remain at the heart of the community for years to come.
The Wheatsheaf Hall has been a community venue since 1988 when members of the local community leased the building from the council. It was awarded grade II listed status in 1975 and is run by volunteers.
There are 2 spaces that can be hired for community and business meetings, meditation groups, faith groups, council surgeries, rehearsal space, weddings, christenings, birthday parties and bingo.
A volunteer management committee manages and maintains the hall and is made up from representatives from Mawbey Brough and Wyvil Estates, user groups and local residents. If you would like to be involved in the running of the Wheatsheaf hall please contact the bookings officer.
